This book is the counterpart to the Oce Museum. It describes the seven stories of Océ in seven chapters, in which the most important innovations are shown. After the story, every chapter contains technical details, an extra discussion of the technology behind the developments. On top of that, each chapter contains a theme. The themes cast a deeper look into those things that make the Van der Grinten family and Océ special.

De ontstaansgeschiedenis van Océ-van der Grinten, 1877-1956
Wetenschappelijke studie in opdracht van de directie van Océ. De auteurs zijn gefascineerd geraakt door de vraag hoe het valt te verklaren, dat ondanks de beperkte omvang tot 1936 van deze familie-onderneming toch van begin af aan een duidelijke internationale gerichtheid is te signaleren. Zowel in de beginperiode toen boterkleursel werd gefabriceerd, als in de fase vanaf 1918 toen kopieersystemen al spoedig het voornaamste produkt werden, speelde de buitenlandse afzetmarkt een grote rol.
